Stephanie's currently-reading book montageJanuary, 2015 A work of fiction chronicling the events and thoughts of a man as he voyages down the Congo River, Heart of Darkness initially had me wondering if it would maintain my interest. Not for those with a weak stomach, this novel pulls you into the turbulent lives of Marnie and Nelly, sisters who had losers for parents . Though I am uncomfortable recommending this book to middle-school readers because of language issues, topics and themes addressed appear to be relevant to a young adult audience. |
